HTTG / OWNERSHIP & INSTRUCTION

Aaron Guzman

Co-Owner | Instructor

Aaron Guzman is a retired law enforcement professional with 18 years of service in Minnesota and extensive experience in tactical operations, specialized training, and law enforcement leadership. Throughout his career, Aaron developed proficiencies in firearms instruction, combatives, close-quarters contacts (CQC), active threat response, and tactical team operations.

During his law enforcement career, Aaron earned instructor certifications in Firearms, Combatives, Close-Quarters Contacts (CQC), Active Threat Response, Safariland Less-Lethal and Chemical Munitions, and Field Training Officer (FTO). He also served as his agency’s Rangemaster, overseeing firearms training and proficiency.

Aaron spent 12 years serving on a multi-jurisdictional Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, holding leadership positions as Assistant Commander and Team Leader. His operational experience included high-threat close-quarters contacts (CQC), tactical breaching, less-lethal and chemical munitions, distraction devices, operational planning, and tactical training coordination. These responsibilities provided extensive experience in developing training programs, managing team operations, and preparing officers for high-risk incidents.

In 2016, Aaron began working as a contract instructor with 88 Tactical, delivering specialized SWAT and patrol training to law enforcement professionals. In 2018, he led 88 Tactical’s Mobile Training Team (MTT), overseeing nationwide law enforcement training operations, curriculum development, instructor management, and coordination with law enforcement and military agencies. Under his leadership, the program expanded to include a nationwide cadre of 15 specialized instructors, delivering advanced tactical training programs throughout the United States.

In 2023, Aaron retired from law enforcement to pursue a full-time career in tactical training, instructor development, and business leadership. Today, Aaron and his business partner, Trevor Thrasher, lead High Threat Training Group (HTTG), a professional law enforcement training organization specializing in SWAT operations, close-quarters contacts, active threat response, school resource officer (SRO) tactical training, and advanced instructor development.

Aaron remains committed to advancing law enforcement training through practical, principle-based instruction that emphasizes sound decision-making, operational effectiveness, and real-world application. His approach focuses on developing adaptable skills that officers can apply in dynamic, high-stress environments rather than relying on scripted tactics.

Aaron holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Leadership.

Trevor Thrasher

Co-Owner | High Threat Training Group

Trevor Thrasher is a tactical operations, training, and use-of-force specialist with more than three decades of experience spanning law enforcement, military special operations, and executive protection.

He serves as Chief Training Officer and partner at 88 Tactical, a leading Midwest training company, where he leads the development of a groundbreaking curriculum that bridges proven tactics with the human factors that govern performance in high-stress, life-and-death encounters. A fully certified police officer, Trevor spent 14 years full-time with two large metropolitan departments — working in street-crimes and special operations units, serving on SWAT, and instructing at the academy level in firearms, combatives, and tactics — and continues to serve part-time with a local agency. For over a decade, he also deployed worldwide with an elite U.S. government unit on high-risk, non-disclosure counter-terrorism assignments, and he is a retired Master Sergeant of the 19th Special Forces Group.

Over his career, Trevor has trained several thousand law enforcement, military, and civilian organizations — among them the U.S. Marshals Service, NYPD, and SWAT units across the country. He is a recognized use-of-force and tactics expert witness, a published author on behavior-based firearms and CQB training, and a frequent invited speaker at national-level tactical conferences, as well as a regular subject-matter expert on television, radio, and podcasts. His work centers on a single idea: understanding how people actually behave under the stress of a violent encounter, and turning that understanding into decisive, reliable performance for everyday citizens and first responders alike.

Today, Trevor and his business partner, Aaron Guzman, lead High Threat Training Group (HTTG), overseeing the course curriculum and development.
